Furgenics Deep Moisturizing Shampoo is a 16:1 concentrate built as the wash step for coats that need active rebuilding — dry, brittle, damaged, long, and curly coats that lighter shampoos leave rough. A five-oil stack (argan, avocado, coconut, shea, soybean) with silk amino acids and panthenol puts moisture back in during the bath instead of stripping it out. One gallon yields up to 17 working gallons per bottle at professional dilution — roughly the cost of a cup of coffee per working gallon at pro dilution.
Why this formulation works on dry and damaged coats
⌵
Most shampoos are a trade-off: the surfactants that clean also strip the coat's lipid layer, which is exactly what a dry or damaged coat can't afford to lose. Deep Moisturizing resolves that by pairing the cleansing base with a genuine conditioning payload — not a token oil at the bottom of the list, but a stacked system.
Argan and avocado oils are the penetrating layer. Their fatty acid profiles are light enough to enter the hair shaft rather than sit on top of it, restoring lipid content in the cortex of sun-bleached and post-clip coats. Coconut oil and shea butter handle the seal — heavier lipids that lock the restored moisture in against post-bath dry-out. Silk amino acids and panthenol add the humectant layer: small protein fragments and pro-vitamin B5 that bind water to the hair shaft and skin, which is where the soft-touch finish comes from. The pearlized lather is the visual tell that the conditioning agents are suspended evenly through the formula rather than separated.
The result is a shampoo that cleans to salon standard while moving the coat's moisture balance in the right direction — so the conditioning step builds on a restored base instead of repairing what the wash just removed.
When to use Furgenics Deep Moisturizing Shampoo
⌵
Coat types: dry, brittle, damaged, sun-bleached, long, curly, mat-prone, post-shave recovery, cold-weather dry-out. This is the rebuild wash — for coats where a maintenance shampoo isn't enough.
Breeds: Poodles, Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Bernedoodles, Shih Tzus, Malteses, Yorkshire Terriers, Afghan Hounds, Lhasa Apsos, Bichon Frises, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels — the long-coated, high-maintenance clients where coat texture and shine are part of the service.
Salon scenarios: the wash half of an intensive-conditioning service add-on; show-prep work where coat presentation is the deliverable; recovery protocol for coats neglected between visits; winter seasonal protocol for dry-climate and indoor-heated clients.
How to dilute and use
⌵
- Pre-brush and de-mat before water. On curly and long coats, water tightens existing mats — clear them dry.
- Saturate fully with warm water. Dense doodle and drop coats take 2–4 minutes to wet to the skin.
- Dilute at 16:1 concentrate in a mixing bottle, or use ready-to-use on severely dry sections and coat ends.
- Apply along the back and work root to tip, paying particular attention to the ends of long coats where damage concentrates.
- Massage 3–5 minutes. The oil stack needs contact time to penetrate — cutting this short turns a rebuild wash into a regular one.
- Rinse fully until water runs clear. The conditioning load rinses clean but rewards a thorough pass.
- Follow with Deep Moisturizing Conditioner ($34.99) at 16:1 concentrate, leave 5–7 minutes, rinse, then HV dry on moderate heat — the shine sets as the lipid seal cools.
Ingredients and safety
⌵
The conditioning story is the five-oil stack — argan, avocado, coconut, shea, and soybean — carried by silk amino acids and panthenol for water-binding. The cleansing base is a proven salon surfactant system that produces a rich, pearlized lather and rinses clean without residue.
Safety: paraben-free, pH-balanced for dog skin, and formulated for regular professional use — the moisture load means it can run as a weekly wash on dry-coat clients without over-stripping. As with any new shampoo, patch-test a small area first. Formulated and tested for dogs — not recommended for cats.

How it compares to alternatives
The salon-pro moisture category is crowded — Espree Luxury Care, Hydra Ultra Moisturizing, and the Chris Christensen conditioning washes all do credible work, generally at materially higher per-gallon pricing, and most lean on a single hero oil rather than a stacked system. Where Furgenics differentiates: direct-to-salon pricing in both markets, full INCI transparency, and integration with the rest of the line — the matching Deep Moisturizing Conditioner ($34.99) completes the two-step rebuild protocol with the same argan-shea chemistry.
For doodle daily-driver bathing, Furgenics 2-in-1 Doodle (currently unavailable online) is the everyday pick — Deep Moisturizing is the escalation when the coat needs real work. For dry skin that's also reactive, start with Oatmeal & Aloe Shampoo ($34.99); for allergy-prone clients where minimal chemistry is the goal, Hypoallergenic Shampoo ($34.99) is the safer baseline.
